Dr Nell Osborne is a writer, artist & feminist researcher.

She has a special interest in novels which feature experiments with form, genre, narrative, affect. See for example, extreme, difficult, dense, opaque, ugly, absurd, hostile, unlikeable writings…

Nell completed a research PhD on experimental women writers including Ann Quin, Kathy Acker, Muriel Spark and Anna Kavan. She has published academic articles. She co-edited the creative-critical anthology, Gestures: a body of work, which includes essays by artists including Lauren Berlant, Nat Raha, Jade Montserrat and Erin Manning.

Between 2018-2021, she co-ran the Manchester-based poetry reading series and micro publisher, No Matter. In this role, she commissioned new work from artists including Anne Boyer, Simone White & Lisa Robertson.

In 2024, Nell published Thank You For Everything with Monitor Books.

Nell’s debut novel, Ghost Driver was published with Moist Books in 2025. It was jointly awarded the Queen Mary Small Press Fiction Prize 2026.
